![]() According to Harvard's findings the only string instrument that is the right size forthe sound that is produces, is the violin. Harvard University's "Catgut Acoustical Society" has been studying better acoustical stringinstruments recently. Paul Stoner, also of the Music Department, will join in the Beethovanpiano trio. She is the onlyperson in the United States who plays the unusual instrument, which is supported by a long end pin to the floor, while being played. Sackrison has played the vertical viola for two years. Whitcomb will accompany her on the piano in his"Suite ffcr Viola and Piano." The travelling exhibit will be sponsored by the AS Program Council. The exhibit will be circulated to several colleges beginning this summer, including* Montana State University and Oregon StateUniversity. He showed his 125 photographexhibit "The Black and White Image" at Western last winter quarter. Lamb has had five years ofphotographic experience at Everett Junior College and Western. The film will be developed in Western's Industrial Artsphotography laboratory, but the positive print and the synchronized optical sound track will beproduced in a commercial photography plant, Lamb explained. He wouldalso like to have it shown here on campus. while working as a graduate assistant in photography. LAMB HOPES to complete the film by theend of the summer so that he will toe able to take it to Ohio University, where he Allan Lamb will enrollin September for a two year M. The musicwill be composed by Meggin Jones, a Western student. "There will be no dialogue, however," he explained. Lamb plans to include some of the sounds of the setting— wind, waves and an occasionaltrain—along with appropriate music. We may even include a passing train in the film if it fits while we are shooting," Lamb related. "The film 'Chuckanut' will be animpressionistic expression of nature involving the rocky beach, evergreen trees, wind, sun, salt waterand a beautiful girl. The other two figures are a sound technician and a 'safety manfor action near the water. The only starfor the one half hour film is Merri Irons.
